Motherjane is an Indian rock band from Kochi, India, formed in 1996. The band consists of John Thomas, Clyde Rozario, Deepu Sasidharan, Santhosh Chandran, and Vivek Thomas. They have released a total of two studio albums, and three singles. Since their formation, genres like progressive rock and Carnatic music have influenced their music

Motherjane recently were named for The Best Rock Act at AVIMA 09 which is one of the largest Asian Musical Awards that happens at present! Suraj, the vocalist, was nominated for the category of Best Rock Vocalist
Motherjane toured nationally extensively during the period between the release of their first album and the release of their groundbreaking second album – Maktub. Released in 2008, Maktub marked a change in Motherjane’s musical style. Influence of Carnatic music was prominently seen in the lead guitar patterns, supported by vocals and percussions with the usage of native instruments like the chenda.
The first indian band to launch an album at a worldwide live webcast event where the album, the music and videos were unveiled for their latest release “Maktub”. The Event was viewed by 6000 odd fans from all over the world.
