"DJ parties and Night parties are becoming common in luxury hotels, and other places" says Cochin Police. Police report based on raids held in many star hotels says that drug use at these parties are also rising.
The city police of Kochi had raided a popular nightclub earlier this month based on a tip-off that many visitors are using narcotic drugs at the nightclub parties. They seized 7 grams of ganja lying unattended in the hotel and registered a case under Section 21 of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Further Kadavanthra police issued a notice to the hotel asking it not to allow visitors to use narcotic drugs inside the hotel premises, or else face action.
There are also other reports that night parties, bachelor parties, new year parties etc that are held at various hotels, flats etc often distribute liqour without license. The organisers of these parties have to get a one day license worth Rs 50,000 from the excise commisioner for distributing liquor.
Police officials say that they will continue the raids in other hotels where night parties are conducted. The police, along with the excise department, will be on lookout for Drug and Liquor-Fueled Night Parties in Kochi
