Mattupetty is a hill station situated at a height of 1,700 m in Idukki district of Kerala. Located about 13 km from Munnar, the village is known for its scenic splendour, green valleys and salubrious climate. Here you can enjoy the greenish valleys and feel the fabulous climate around. The scenic lake and dam known by the same name makes it a popular tourist destination. The most attractive part of Mattupetty dam is its still water which reflects the tea garden around.
Another attraction of Mattupetty is the dairy farm, run by the Indo-Swiss livestock project. The dairy farm also has a cattle and research centre. The sight of the cattle grazing freely on the hills of the wide farm is a unique experience which any tourist can have ever in his life. The best time to visit Mattupetty is from the month of August to May and it is very easily accessible from Munnar town.
